AutoCAD/upload font style

Question
How can I take my company's font styles and upload them to a new computer?

Answer
Meaghan:

Create a folder:  C:\OUR_FONTS
Put all your fonts in there.  If there are any TTF fonts, copy them to C:\WINDOW\FONTS.  Windows XP will automatically install them.  You will have to tell Windows to install them if you are using Windows 2000 or prior.  In AutoCAD, and in OPTIONS;Files;Support File Search Path, add the path: C:\OUR_FONTS.  Hit the OK button, close AutoCAD and restart AutoCAD.  Your fonts should work now.

As for text styles, you can import them by inserting a dwg file that contains the style, canceling before inserting, purging the block, but not the style.  You can also use ADC to import text styles.  In your drawing template file that you use to start drawings, make sure your text style is defined correctly in there.  Never use the STANDARD text style name.  There are way too many versions of that style, and you never get the one you want.  The same can be said for the STANDARD dimension style.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
