AutoCAD/auto cad crashes

Questionhello im a designer in a waterjet company we have to import fies from illustrator to auto cad since due to letter cutting on machine so whenever i import files everything is fine the file open in auto cad but when i try to change the size or do some modification in dwg ..my auto cad hangs ad i hv to close the application .i ma using auto cad 2004 pls help me waiting for ur reply ..i m using adobe illustrator cs2

Crashing like this is usually
1 files that force AutoCAD to do so much calculation that it hangs up the computer
2 bad files -- corrupt, etc -- leading back to step 1
3 inadequate memory on the computer Memory is cheap -- you goofed by omitting the computer specs, but if it does not have at least a gig of ram, head out to a store.
If 3 is not the problem....
a -- try drawing over the image from illustrator, then scale or modify your drawing (freeze the layer with the image after you have traced it)
b-- get it more correct in Illustrator first
These are the best replies I have before running to a client, I hope it starts to help, but write back more fully if not.
If you need the conversion frequently, you might be best to have a raster to vector conversion software.
