AutoCAD/copy / move multiple objects in AutoCad2008
Expert: Bob - 5/27/2008
QuestionI am a Cad Designer using AutoCAD for more than 10yrs. I have been ask to evaluate AutoCAD 2008 by my company. When picking multiple objects in copy/move command, the first object will be release when second object is pick and so on till the last object is pick and in the end only one object is selected(last object). Have try to use the command copymode to change the setting but still the same.
AnswerHi-
First of all, evaluate 2008, but have them purchase 2009 -- there are never any major issues with new releases to speak of, any more, and I think it foolish to buy something from March 2007, when the new one has been out since March 2008.
And it would have been smart to tell me which release you are already using --- it could be R14 or 2007, you know?????
The improvements in the releases are great to me, except for those users who blindly copy their old customization and methods without learning -- new people catch on much faster with each release. Interesting interface change for 2009, BTW -- get a free 30 day trial if you want, but the days of messy R13 disasters are long gone. Nowadays, I think the only purpose for such evaluation is to whether 2009 is different enough from the one you have to cause major re-training to be needed.
To be blunt, because you dont make clear whether you think the problem is local or a "bug" in 2008, I am a bit concerned. NO NORMAL COMMAND will fail to behave the same in newer releases, with a few exceptions, such as when Multiple became the default mode of Copy Selection in 2006.
Second "copy/move"?? I am going to trust you mean COPY SELECTION -- which is the toolbar icon and on the right-click menu, as well as available by typing. Or do you? Or I think I recall a command name more as you are giving -- so fill me in better.
I am wondering if you migrated settings and something got messed up. In OPTIONS, if the box "use shift to add to selection" is checked, the second item selected (without shift) deselects the first.
Write back and let me know more.
