About Bill DeShawn
Expertise
I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience
I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn

AutoCAD - exporting multiple text

Expert: Bill DeShawn - 5/20/2008

Question
QUESTION: I have a drawing list and would like to send this information to a excel or word pad as text. this is not mtext just regular text and have several colums and a lot of rows. please advice if there is a way to get all this information in one verses one by one.

ANSWER: José:
I need to know what version of AutoCAD you are running.  If you have EXPRESS TOOLS, there is a tool in there that will combine-convert TEXT into MTEXT.  Then, you can copy to clip board and paste into an EXCEL spreadsheet cell.  The EXPRESS TOOL command is TXT2MTXT.

QUESTION: I'm trying to open the express acad toolbars and have all express toolbars closed. how do i reload express toolbars?
acad 2008

Answer
If the pull-down menu is loaded and the commands work, right click on a BLANK area of your menu.  Scroll down and hover over EXPRESS.  Then click on one of the four toolbar choices.  That is the method to use for any toolbar you want to display, whether it be ACAD, EXPRESS, DBCONNECT, or Custom.

It the menu isn't loaded and the commands don't work, but you're sure that EXPRESS TOOLS is installed, type EXPRESSTOOLS at the command line.  Then the commands should work, and the menus should appear.  Another command is EXPRESSMENU.  But if the menu is loaded and the toolbars aren't displaying, then the first method is the better method to use.
