AutoCAD/xref problem

Question
I've several ACAD 2009 files to a CD, each of them containing xrefs.  When i open the files from another computer the xrefs aren't coming in.  Under the external reference dialog box, it's showing that ACAD is still trying to find the xrefs from the oringal C/ drive as oppose to the disk.

Is there a way to convert already existing xrefs from full path to relative so that i will be able to view them on the CD?

thanks.

Answer
Hi -- I had sent this one to my big guru friend on Thursday, hoping he would reply.  I am jammed up and cant do the research, but I think I can get you started.

I am NOT the expert on xrefs in 2009 -- BUT

I think the clue is that you saved files to a CD, somehow hoping the xrefs would come with them.  I am not clear on this from what you write, so pardon me.  Probably, you saved all the xref files to the CD as well, and just expected that the references would re-path.

Of course, AutoCAD is going to look for the original location of the xref. It does not know that you moved something.

I wonder why you didnt PUBLISH all the files, including the xrefs, to the CD?  Again, sorry, no time to try it, but that ought to maintain the relationships.

Here is the Autodesk discussion group for 2009 -- I have notused it yet, so I cant discuss any improvements to xrefs. If you register, you can post the question, after searching to see if it is already answered there.________http://discussion.autodesk.com/forum.jspa?forumID=344___
