AutoCAD/text

Question
We are not daily users of our AutoCad 2007, but use it frequently to review building plans and wiring diagrams as part of our telecommunications duties with the state. We recently upgraded to 2007, and my machine is fine, but one of my techs has each drawing come up with an unitelligible language, or at least some different coding for all of the text within the drawing.

I can't seem to find anynhwere that I can change mine to appear as his. Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Jeff, typically you receive dwgs w/ text styles (compiled fonts). When the owner of a dwg sends his design to a client, the client may not have these text styles available (client may not have the font that was used). AutoCAD then tries to use an 'alternate font' to represent these text styles. To change what 'Alternate Font File' you're using: type Options & from File tab, expand 'Text Editor, Dict & Font File Names'. You'll see *.shx. & change to whatever you're tech is using. Ensure path to this new style is reflected to 'Support File Search Path'.
You can also type 'fontalt' for the command variable. Hope this helps, let me know!
