Hi, my question is: Is there such thing as a "convert text-to-attribute command"?

Typically, an attribute will consist several elements. Converting a text alone to an attribute will still require some parameters such as tag, prompt, mode etc. (might as well use 'attdef' command).
So to answer the question, there is no command readily available. However, this autocad feature is very flexible & customizable w/ a little AutoLisp or VBA programming. Perhaps some of the other fellows here at Allexperts can assist you with the programming & facilitate your needs. Hope this points you to the right direction.
