Question
Hi

I  have set up a drawing with different line weights. This can be seen in model and paper space. But, when i plot the lines all come out the same. Can you help please.

Answer
HI--
NICELY:

You don't give me all the information I ask, so I am going to assume you are a young student, or someone trying to learn on her own.
It is REALLY IMPORTANT to please pay attention to what I ask for, so I can respond fully, and to your level.

In the case of plotting problems, it is important to consider what else I might have to know in order to understand your error.
You don't mention plotstyles, so I cant really see what you are doing wrong.
You didnt make it clear if you plot on a plotter, on a printer, or send it out to be plotted.

Also--- I will assume you are plotting from Paper Space - the layout, as we call it now.

a-- how it looks onscreen is not the important part of AutoCAD, since  most use plotted drawings. In fact, it is considered bad form to have LWT turned on, except for checking, as it slows the computer.

b-- thus "how to draw" is really the first part of learning. How to get it onto the page in a way that conveys your information properly, is WAY over half the game, and takes longer to master.

c-- in this case, of course your lineweights should plot right, unless you are using a plotstyle that disregards them, or maybe have not checked "plot with plotstyles" (but probably that is not it)

Sorry, I am going to tell you to get a good book, then read, review, and do exercises on the chapters concerning plot setup, plotting, lineweight display, and so on. I URGE YOU to invest this time. I tried to learn a little at a time, and wasted many hours.

In this particular case, you MIGHT solve the problem by trying other plotstyles, but I am not there to see any further obstacles. Some plotters may have settings to obey/disregard your lineweights, as well.

I hope this helps, and helps you to see that most things can be looked up, if you think about it, saving your time.
