AutoCAD/KEYNOTES

Question
Hi Bob, I am trying to figure out how you hide "stuff" under keynotes. Lets say I have lines, hatching, etc. and I want a keynote maybe in a circle or a box or whatever and I need the stuff underneath hidden, but I don't want to break it or trim it? I see it all the time, but have been unsuccessful in figuring it out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Dane

Answer
Hi--

Hey, no info on which software you are using or your background? I will do the best to reply.

1-- look up wipeouts and text masks: it takes a little work to do them well (for instance, circles have to be made of multiple straight line segments), but they work well.
I would include a wipeout in the block or dynamic block for keynotes. -- I have created this for several clients.

2-- some versions of the verticals (ADT,etc) may have wipeouts built into the default keynotes, giving the option to hide or not to hide.

I am home sick today. If this does not help, right back more fully.
