When this happens, the first thing you need to know is that if ACAD.PGP is in the Support File Search Path.  To find that out, type the following at the command line:
(findfile "acad.pgp")
AutoCAD should return something like this:
"C:\\Documents and Settings\\Bill\\Application Data\\Autodesk\\ADT 2006\\enu\\support\\acad.pgp"
If it does, then type REINIT to initialize the PGP file.  Look at the command line to see if it reports errors from the PGP file and on what line number.  If AutocAD returns nil when you type in the code, then something bad has happened to your AutoCAD setup and probably needs to be reinstalled.  You can do a repair installation with your original installation disk in your control panel - Add/Remove Programs (or just Programs).  Their should not be a need to completely remove and reinstall AutoCAD.  An installation repair should do the job.  Another thing that can cause the problem:  When AutoCAD is loading, if the user hits ESCape to make the process of launching AutoCAD go faster, he or she can prevent the loading of ACAD.PGP and the command aliases will not work.

Let me know how it goes.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
