Question
A drawing I'm working on has one plan in model space and two plans are shown on the plan. However, each of the plans on paper space shows different parts of the plan as if certain layers are frozen only in paper space. The person I emailed says he only sees certain portions from what I see even in model space. What is most important is for you to let me know what command is used to freeze/unfreeze certain layers in paper space. If you give me your email address I can send you the drawing.

Answer
VPLAYER will control layers in all viewports.  Even Paper Space without a Model Space Viewport is still considered a Viewport and objects on its layers can also be controlled with VPLAYER.  Also, in AutocAD 2006 and above, you can control layers' status in the current viewport by using the LAYER Properties dialog or palette.  Check it out closely, looking for the columns that control that behavior.

Let me know how it goes.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
