Question
autocad layers not printing

Answer
Manju:
There are (at least) a couple of reasons that a layer won't print.  First, in the Layer Properties palette or dialog box, there is an column (usually to the right of all the other columns) where you can select whether or not the layer will print.  If the printer icon appears "crossed out", the layer will not print, just like the DEFPOINTS layer.

If you are using lineweight as a layer property, make sure the lineweight is big enough to be be seen on paper.

If you are using color-dependent plotting, and using ctb files to define lineweight and screened output, make sure the lineweight is big enough to be seen on paper and that the screened output is not too low or possibly set all the way to zero (0).  A similar situation can be configured in named plot styles with stb files.  Check the output configuration of your plot style.

Let me know how it goes.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
