AutoCAD/Autocad2007 crashes when furn base is xreffed

Question
I work in Fac Mngmnt and we are upgrading to Archibus v16.3. When I am in AutoCAD and attempt to attach the furniture base to the database dwg AutoCAD simply closes. I know the file is not too big; essentially I am retaining only the panels and a couple plines to identify BCP areas.
I purge and audit the drawing after removing all I don't wish to retain and then wblock it.

I can accomplish this on all but about 30 percent of the drawings and I'm getting frustrated.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi --

I hope you realize that this is a question about Archibus, as I read it -- and I claim no expertise in that. I know it is Acad that crashes on you, but seemingly not of its own fault.
Thus, I would think that Archibus help needs to come from that company or an online forum for that software.
You can also search the Autodesk AutoCAD 2007 discussion for other Archibus users_________________

AutoCAD crashes, especially with the vertical applications and with add-on software, are nearly always caused by bad files, not a flaw in AutoCAD --- otherwise, shortage of RAM or the wrong video card (or drivers).

You did not mention your system, which is the MOST important question I would ask you, before wanting to hear specifics of the problem.

If you are only mentioning Archibus and the problem is entirely within AutoCAD, please be clearer (furniture base? etc) so I can try to help you.

I am afraid my busybody nature comes up -- When I researched Archibus, I saw that you are upgrading to a version that is 23 months old. I am not the first to jump on new releases, but I would personally not spend a nickel or a moment of my learning time on software that is already approaching middle age in"software years".

Good luck -- please write back if you like, with enough info that I "get it", if I missed what you were trying to say.
