AutoCAD/Plot dialog too slow in AutoCAD 2009

Question
QUESTION: We are currently experiencing a slow appearance of the plot dialog box in AutoCAD 2009 (some 20seconds) and was wondering what could cause this problem.

ANSWER: You might check the plotters and printers you have set up in your plot dialog box.  One may have been disconnected from your server and Autocad is still trying to look for it.

Does this only happen on one or two drawings or all of them?

QUESTION: Paul, thanks for your quick response. I had already checked network printer setups as I thought that might have been the problem, also plot dialog page setups and locations of ctb,stb (i.e.) deleting them so that I only have one ctb etc but still have the same problem. It still happens even when I open up AutoCAD and just have the blank template present - no actual drawings opened ??

Answer
Neill,

Is this happening on any other computers?? Are you on a network, standalone licensing, etc.  Have you made any changes to your network hardware lately?  Is this something that just started happening and worked fine last week??

I hate to just throw in the towel and recommend a repair and if that doesn't work, a full reinstall but, aside from the first thing I mentioned before, I haven't been able to find anything that could be causing this issue.

Sometimes it's just quicker and cheaper in the long run to repair or reinstall the software.

Hope this helps,

Paul
