Expert: Bob - 3/19/2009

I am new to autocad and I don't know my way around it.  I started to do a project and follow the instructions. but I can't find some of the things.  where do I find the project properties dialog box and the component tabs.  would apprieciate any help you can give me. regards Fred

Hi Fred--

Even to do plain AutoCAD on your own, figuring it out, for very simple things, is akin to sticking pins in your eyes.

You fail to give me the release # of AutoCAD Electrical -- which might help me with assisting you on the plain AutoCAD part-- but I wouldn't expect an Interior Designer (me) to know the propriety features of the vertical application (Acad Electrical). I cant tell you what those 2 features are, let alone locate them for you.

My main skill is pointing people to acheive their own solutions. Thus, I can only reply with 2 suggestions:

1-- Get the applicable book, and do all the exercises, then keep the book right next to the computer.  Use the HELP and tutorials that come with the program: there must be video tutorials with it, as with all recent releases. (if yours is recent)

2-- Nicely meant:
a-you skipped over some of the items which my profile requests you tell me, and maybe skipped noticing whether we were talking about my field of expertise.
b-I just do not believe that Autodesk left out instructions on how to find those 2 things -- it's not like them. (However, some skill in finding where they decided to put information is needed, as they often don't chose what I would think is intuitive.)

Thus, I concluded that you might have a habit of skipping over steps -- which is fatal in trying to learn these programs. I suggest you consider that, and stop, read, poke around a bit more.

PS -- were it I simply looking for the answer to your question, I would first GOOGLE  
__ autocad electrical (release#) project properties __. etc
However, understanding what to do with those once one finds them is needed, thus the book and tutorials.
