AutoCAD/AutoCAD 2010 not recognizing an older .shx font file

Question
1. AutoCAD LT 2010
2. Architectural Lighting Designer, setting up AutoCAD LT 2010 for roll-out with company standards
3. First in Highschool-1994 and on the job continually since

Question: I saved the .shx file that we have been using in AutoCAD LT 2006 to the correct support file path.  In the text style editor, I'm not seeing the file.  Is there some kind of conversion that this font file needs to go through first?  The font is Frutiger.

Thanks so much!
Mari

Answer
Hi ---  thanks for providing background, etc.

I am on an "AutoCAD vacation" right now, sorry, so this is all from memory and Google, but let me provide some clues. Also, my comments are "barring some change in 2010 I don't know about yet", as I havent seen the release.

1-- just to be sure we are using the "agreed upon terms", which is the safe way understand one another --
a-- you COPIED the .shx file into your 2009 fonts folder (you can only save open files)
b-- you can't see the FONT in the text style editor (not file)
c-- the font is one from the Frutiger FAMILY of fonts: although you may refer to it in your office as "frutiger", it's one of those, and you omitted the correct name
http://new.myfonts.com/fonts/adobe/frutiger/
We would say, for instance, Frutiger Condensed Regular, or, XYZQ.shx (made up name example)

2-- I am losing you on the text style issue. If you have the text style (using that font) in 2006, can't you find it via Design Center and drop it into place in 2010?????  -- or copy and paste from Style Manager (or the current name for that feature) in 2006 into 2010??
--- there are probably a few more ways, but I am content to remember 2 at a time, lol.
If the font resides in the proper place in 2010, when you add the style, AutoCAD should find the font, and everything is cool.

NO conversion is needed unless there is a new VOODOO in 2010, and I have not seen it yet.

If #2 doesn't do it, please get back to me on exactly what happens, and I will try to find out why for you.
