AutoCAD/Saving a camera view as a .jpg or tranfering it into another file

Question
Hello, I modeled a space in CAD 2008 and have the camera places. When you click on the camera, a small box appears and shows you the camera view. How can I copy that image into a layout or save it as a.jpg? Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Sarah,

After you place your camera, you should have the option to name the view.  Even if you miss that part, you can go to the view pulldown, click named views, then select Named Views.  Under Model Views, you should have a Camera1 view unless you named it something else.  Clicking on this and hitting apply will open it like a plan or isometric view for you to plot.

You can then plot it as a .pdf in full color if you want.

Probably the easiest way to get it into a .jpg format is to use a freeware program called Lightscreen Portable.  It will allow you to capture different windows, whole screens, or selectable areas of the screen and save them into whatever image format you want.

I carry a copy of it on my thumb drive and have used it quite often when preparing presentations for students where I need to capture part of a page or a drawing I'm using.

Hope that helps.
