About Bill DeShawn
Expertise
I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience
I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn

AutoCAD - acadlt.pgp

Question
After installing a toolbar symbol catalogue from Simpson Strongtie I lost use of command aliases and the program is having a hard time finding fonts.  What can I do to retrieve acadlt.pgp and font files?

Answer
Colleen:
First, go to Options;Profiles and see if Strongtie created a profile there.  If so, then change to the profile you were working under previously - before you installed StrongTie.  If you can work normally after that, then you will have to change back to the Simpson profile in order to use the toolbar, and then back again to draft as you are accustomed.

Otherwise:
For fonts that don't come with AutoCAD or Windows, I place them in a special folder that will never get modified by a third-party program or by AutoCAD.  Then, in Options;Files;Support File Search Path, I add the folder to the list of folders that are already in place there.  To restore AutoCAD to its original default settings, you can place the original setup disk in the CD-ROM or DVD drive and from the control panel find Add/Remove programs, find AutoCAD LT, then Change, then Reinstall or Repair, then Reinstall AutoCAD LT.
After the reinstallation, all AutoCAD fonts should be restored.  Any special fonts will have to be reinstalled the same way you put them in originally or you can use the method that I use and described above.  Reinstalling AutoCAD should also restore the path to ACADLT.PGP.  It appears to me that the paths to the files you need were changed by the StrongTie Installation.  The reinstallation process will restore that.  I'm hoping however, that toggling back and forth between profiles will work for you.

Let me know how it goes
