AutoCAD/AutoCAD 2010 zoom in layout

Question
Hi Paul,

I installed AutoCAD Architecture 2010 (German) yesterday. Opening a dwg file (saved in LT 2000) is ok, but when I try to zoom in layout tab, it takes about half an hour to regenerate the model and zoom. I tried to change the MaxHatch variables with no better result. Changing LAYOUTREGENCTL also didn't cause the problem. I can't figure out the problem with those dwg files.
I hope you are able to understand my description and apologize my probably bad english.

Regards, Susan

Answer
Hi Susan,

First, let me say your english is very good, much better than my German, that's for sure.  It's been too many years since I last visited your beautiful country.

Have you tried to zoom in on any other drawing files saved in other versions of Autocad?  If you don't have any, perhaps you can ask someone for a drawing within the same file size range as your problem drawing.

Another thing you might want to search for is object enablers for Autocad LT that work with your Autocad Architecture.  That's a long shot but, there might be some that need to be loaded in order for the lt file to work correctly.

One last thing I would suggest is possibly opening the file in a newer version of Autocad and seeing how it works there, saving it in 2004 or 2007 Autocad format and then trying to open and zoom with your newer version.

In 2010, there's been another file format change, just liket here was in 2007 and 2004.  Sometimes when they change formats, the object enablers need to be loaded to make older drawings work.  It's a one time thing, once you load them, you won't have to load them again.

Hope that helps,

Paul
