Question
I downloaded Revit Structure 2010 software (30 days trial)along
with the tutorials and installed as per installation instructions. I found that Revit Structure is totally different from Autocad(have 18yrs experience)
And also instruction given in pdf format tutorial, the exercise cannot be performed as the required drawing are not available in the training files. Besides , the help files are not really helpfully.
Any suggestion on how to learn Revit Structure basic command ? Thank you

Answer
Hey Ronny,

The Revit Structure 2010 tutorials assume that you already have a working knowledge of Revit Architecture, same with Revit MEP.

The best advice I can tell you in learning the Revit family is to forget about how you did things in Autocad.  You'll still use your basic drafting skills but, how you use them is, by design, totally backwards.  It was designed that way by the original programmers of the software and Autodesk is staying with that format.

The 2010 release also introduced the Ribbon interface and that's a whole extra step of learning for the Revit Interface.  I haven't had time to check to see if the 2010 courseware is available yet.

Best bet is to take a basic Revit Architecture course, then go through the Revit Structure tutorials.

Hope that helps,

Paul
