Expert: Paul Jordan - 9/18/2009

Question
When I list any object in a drawing the command line displays a the information in a bunch of characters that I can not understand. How do I get AutoCAD to display the info in a form I can understand? Below is an example of the response that I get when I list a polyline.

Thanks for all of your help.

Daniel

Example:

               Entity Information
               Entity Information
               Entity Information
Press Enter to continue ... *Cancel*

Answer
Hi Daniel,

Is this something new that just started happening or has it been this way since you installed Autocad?

It almost looks like your font is wrong but, I haven't heard of any way to change the basic font used in Autocad.

You might just try using the properties palette.  It gives you a lot more information in a much easier to understand interface.  The properties palette is always present on my second monitor or at least hidden on the side of my laptop.  Simply moving the mouse over it will open it up.  You can also access it by right clicking and selecting properties.

The only way I can see to fix your list command is by either a repair or reinstall if the repair doesn't work.  Make sure you do a "clean" uninstall if you go with the uninstall route.  You can find directions on a clean uninstall by googling Autocad clean uninstall.

Hope that helps,

Paul
