Question
I am Having an Issue with some of my fractions. when I am editing text my fractions does not have a diagonal line. Even when I put in `4 command for 1/4", but when I edit dimension text it will have a diagonal line. I was wondering if there was a setting i needed to fix. i am using AutoCad architecture 2008.

Answer
Hi -- sorry I forgot to reply the other day. I am afrain that I was in a poor mood, and I did not want to blast you for leaving out the important stuff that would make the question much easier to answer intelligently, quickly, and with confidence.

1-- your experience and schooling in AutoCAD (this is a pure Acad issue, not ACA)
2-- what type of text you are editing MTEXT or dtext.
3-- whether the text was newly placed by you, from your own old drawing, or inherited drawings. If the drawing is from r14, no stacking, BTW.
4-- whether you considered the text style.

I have completely no idea what the '4 command is -- maybe leftover from before my time. I learned 11 years ago, and am >60, but I move on on  lot to the newer stuff.  I do not advise text editing via the keyboard.

If you have mtext, and use the text editor properly, you will see pretty easily how to change stacking -- highlight the fraction within the editor, drop down the arrow in the editor, and choose UNSTACK (the editor varies with releases, I dont have 2008 open here, but it should be similar)

As for the difference between text and dimensions -- I guess your dimensions use a text style that specifies diagonal fractions, and your other text does not??????? -- My best guess.
If so, simply modify the text style used for non-dimension text, to specify no stacking.

Does this help?
