Question
I have autocad 2008 installed on my laptop and desktop.
when i open a drawing on my laptop that was emailed to me from an architect the fonts come in fine. the same drawing opened on my desktop and the fonts are not legible, I have to find that font and change it to a different textstyle name. for example the font that i cant read is called "GAR"..if i change it to "ROMANS" then i can read it....i have been having this problem for a while any help would be appreciated.....sincerely Kevan

Answer
Hey Kevan,

The first thing I would do is to make sure I have the exact same fonts on my desktop that I have on my laptop.  It's sounds like you might have picked up the architects custom font on your laptop but, it was never picked up on your desktop.

Another idea is to have your architect e-transmit the drawing to you and that should come with all the fonts, linetypes, etc, he may have used to create the file.

Hope that helps,

Paul
