Question
hi,
i installed autoCAD 2008 for 64 bit OS , and the installation goes good but when i try to run the program nothing happened at all , i waited for 6 min and still nothing happened plz can u help me ??

Answer
Anas:
The best operating system form AutoCAD 2008 (32-bit) is Windows XP Pro.  If you happen to have a 64-bit AutoCAD 2008, then 64-bit Vista works well.  Normal installations of AutoCAD 2008 apply to 32-bit operating systems.  Windows 7 wasn't a supported OS until AutoCAD 2010.  However, it may work if you uninstall what you did and install all over again in compatibility mode.  Complete instructions on "How to remove all Autodesk software products from a system to ensure a clean install" can be found here:

Some people who succeeded in installing AutoCAD 2008 on Windows 7 can't make plot files:

Those who have trouble plotting to plt files, might be better off plotting to PDF.

If you have no choice but to proceed with Windows 7, then I highly recommend upgrading AutoCAD.

Let me know how it goes:

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
