Question
In some way I have managed to alter standard autocad commands and would like help to adjust to default conditions.

When I try to open a drawing, I get the file listed only on the command line and not in a "window"!  How can I restore this condition?

Answer
It sounds to me like you might have turned off your dialog box display setting.  At the command line type in Filedia, then return, then 1, and return and it should come back.

Some custom lisp routines will turn off the dialog boxes so they don't interfere with the routine.  If you crash in the middle of the routine, it doesn't turn it back on.

Hope that helps,

Paul
