Question
Sometimes when I receive a drawing, it has a block on it and when I explode that block parts of the drawing in the block disappear. How can I explode those blocks and not have some parts of it disappear? Also, if I try to change colors of some parts of the un-exploded block with Layer Properties Manager it does not work. How can I change colors of parts of blocks?

Answer
Al, my apologies for my response. When creating a block, ideally you would want to set the color to '0' and at 'bylayer'. This way when it is inserted, it will inherit the current layer you are on. The caveat, you can't specify a unique color for each blocks when several blocks are inserted (unless if the block is under 'byblock').
In your case, the block you have already have assigned layers. & when it is inseted, it will also inherit the current layer. If some of the used layers are frozen/off, these layers will disappear when the block is exploded.
Hope this helps, let me know.

Regards,
JB
