AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT 2004 on vista

Question
I'm currently trying to download AutoCAD LT 2004 onto my labtop computer so that I can continue to draft while I'm down at school.  I'm having trouble getting the program to run on vista.  I've tried going into properties and changing the compatibility to run it on windows 2000 and windows XP. Also, I chose to run the program as an administrator; however, none of these things seem to help.  The program downloads without problems, but when I choose to run the program I immediately get a box saying "Not applicable. has stopped working".  I'd appreciate any help that I could get.

Answer
A couple of things here Brennen.  Autocad LT 2004 is not supported at all on Vista.  I'm thinking you'd need at least 2008 for it to work.

Now, that being said, why bother with LT 2004?  If you're a student, can you get a student email address?  Something like a .edu address?  Usually your instructor can get you one.

Once you get a student address, you can go to the Autodesk Studet website and download the newest version of about 30 different Autodesk products.  Might as well download a full version of Autocad 2011 and be current with the latest software.  Did I mention it's student friendly?? As in totally free?

It's definitely worth pursuing.  Let your instructor know as well and he can get the rest of your class set up with it as well.  They also have courseware for instructors to use there.

Well worth checking into.

Let me know if you have any problems.
