AutoCAD/Changing from English to metric

Question
I have an existing drawing template that is set to draw in standard feet and inches. I need to do a drawing in metric. Is there a command to change this without setting up a new template??

Answer
Hey Rich,

You can just copy that template and name it Metric if you like.  Then go into the template itself and use the Units command to change your settings.  You'll also need to go into your dimension settings and change them to metric as well.

You can have your dimensions show both english and metric dimensions one over top of the other if you want as well.

Make sure when you create your new drawing, you select the metric template.  Use the File, New command to get to where you can select it.  Don't use the icon that does a Qnew because that will go directly to your default template and you'll be drawing in feet and inches again.

Hope that helps,

Paul
