AutoCAD/Outline Text with Solid Fill

Question

Imagery Text Sample
In our work we deal with text labelling over aerial photography. Because of the wide range of colours and shades in the images it is often very difficult to read the text. Outline text could work but the image is transparent through the inside of the text (see attached image). Is there a way to turn off the transparency and use a solid (preferably white) fill inside of the text outline? Other software programs used for presentations often have solid filled outline text that enables the user to control parameters such as colour of fill, colour and weight of outline, etc. Is there anything like that in the AutoCAD world?
Thanks for your time. Cheers!

Answer
Dana:
Yes.  There is something like that.  In fact there is more than one thing thing that can affect text fill.  First and formaost, make sure the TEXTFILL system variable is set to 1 (or on).  If plotting from a layout, Set SHADEMODE to 2D wireframe in the viewport that you have the TRUE-TYPE font that you want filled.  In your plotting dialog, set "Shade Plot" to "As Displayed".  When plotting from a layout, and in cases where you need to plot the viewport as 3D-hidden, move the text to paper space.

Let me know how it goes.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
