AutoCAD/filled text and features in plot

Question
This applies to Autocad Mechanical desktop 2008. Issue: A drawing contains TrueTypeŽ text objects that are displayed as filled in paper space. However, in the plot preview and hardcopy output, the TrueType text objects and arrowheads are plotted as outlines and are not filled.  I've found nothing in the preferences or plot setups that turns fill on/off

Answer
I think you are describing the problem slightly incorrect.  The text that usually displays filled but prints hollow is a result of the text being in model space that is in a viewport that was created in a layout.  So, while in paper space, and with PICKFIRST set to 1, select the viewport, right click on it, and select PROPERTIES.  In the Properties Palette or dialog, find "SHADE PLOT" and select "AS DISPLAYED".

If you are printing hidden 3D solid objects, and have to have TTF fonts in Model Space, they won't fill.  Period.  Switch to SHX fonts instead.  Arrows and polylines won't fill either.  That's just the way it is.  The alternative is to put dimensions and text in paper space - not in the model viewport.  Arrow blocks can be filled with tight a hatch pattern.  Solid hatches won't fill when hiding hidden edges on a 3D plot.

Sometimes what should be simple turns out to be burdensome.

Take care

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
