AutoCAD/ARX errors
Expert: Bob - 12/14/2011
Questionthe hotfixes for ADT can't be applied for some reason to ADT 3.3. i use ADT 2007 at home but ADT 3.3 at the office gets the errors from drawings that were saved back to 2000. these are all 2d files but the normal commands like _dist and cut and paste yield ARX errors. is there an older object enebler for this or does the hotfix need to be applied to the 2007 version 1st?
AnswerHi--
From the best of my knowledge -- I was around from ADT2 onward, so I will take a stab
There are TREMENDOUS differences in the more recent ADT from the early ones -- 2004 was sort of the first crack of light toward reliability, and 2006 was fairly decent.
I am by far not the guy for programming and error questions, but I am not shocked that you are having the problems.
First of all, if you are doing 2D, did you install the "use as AutoCAD" feature in 2007 -- which is a checkbox on the installation dialog (as I recall). If not, I would do a repair install, yielding a 2nd desktop icon, and try that version on the 2D drawings
There is likely some remnant of the ADT part getting into your 2007 2D drawings, some customization that is incompatible, etc. This means you have a lot of sleuthing to do.
You can look on the Autodesk Forums or Discussion Groups
But the main problem, to me, is that you are using nearly the very earliest version of the software at work -- even forgoing the intelligent objects and going to AutoCAD 2012 or AutoCAD 2012 LT might speed you up 30-50%.
