AutoCAD/importing fbk file

Question
Bill, I am a self-employed Professional Land Surveyor, and have been searching for an answer for a week now...I'm hoping that you might be able to help me.

I recently had a hard drive crash.  Consequently, I had to install windows xp and my Autodesk Autocad Land Desktop 2007 afresh.  The last time I had to do this was when I first purchased Autocad in 2006.

After searching through the "help" menu for 97,457 times now, I though everything was going to work.  My drawing template (.dwt) looks good.  When I import my fbk file, the line types come in fine.  The only problem now is that my symbols won't import, and all my points are on the zero layer.  I doubled checked my Desckey sybol manager...everything looks good there and it has (I believe anyway) the correct path.

As a private surveyor with only myself as an employee, week of this is killing me.  I'm almost ashamed to admit that I've been surveying for 30 years and working with autocad for 20+ years...can't figure this one out though.  I would verily verily appreciate any help you can provide.

Respectively,

S. Craig Davis, P.L.S.

Answer
Craig.
I have also been working with AutoCAD 20+ years, but in different disciplines (mechanical and architectural).  I use civil drawings from time to time, but I don't create them.  This is the first time, I have ever heard of Desckey, but googling it it appears to be a function of Civil3D.  When you attempt to "import symbols", what kind of an error message are you getting?  Can you please type in or copy and paste the error message to your next response?

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
