AutoCAD/3D walk through in ACAD2006
Expert: Bob - 3/8/2006
QuestionIs there a simple way to create a walk-through in ACAD 2006 and record this as maybe an MPG or AVI file?
I have a 3D house that I would like to make this work for. I'm not a programmer so is there a simple way?
AnswerHi -- If you are a wiz, you can get a free trial of ADT or VIZ, or some other program which has animation. I think I read that AutoCAD 2007 may have it, but I have no time to check now.
Not to be harsh, but I am trying to think of any reason to make a 3D house in vanilla AutoCAD, other than the case of a student who erroneously bought student Acad instead of student ADT, or a hobbyist. It might be cool for an exercise, but it makes a huge file, and an inflexible model, is almost never done professionally any more. You do not give any back story for me to gain understanding.
For the record, a 3D house should be in ADT, Revit, Archicad, etc -- quicker to model, easily able to be more realistic, 10 times easier to do revisions and documentation, as well as details for CDs.
The last reason: if you are wanting to be employed doing this, best to be up on current ways, rather than finding an office that is still using 3D solids, as in the 90s. If you work on your own and are happy, cool, but I had to write all this other stuff because I cannot tell that.
By the way, this is the only case I can recall reading about where someone wanted to walk through an interior done in solids (assuming you mean interior), so please don't be upset at my telling you it is unusual.
