AutoCAD/ACAD 14 and HP 110+

Question
A few weeks ago the old Calcomp 3024 died and was replaced with an HP 110+ unit that is advertised as compatible with R14.
HP Tech support has been useless and claim they only support the hardware. Tried setting up the HP GL2 as suggested, but no joy. Been searching the web for a week now, and don't seem to find any answers. I build computer systems for professional Clients, so it's not like I'm a novice.
Should be simple, but I'm at a loss.
Any help would be great!
Thanks!
Steve

You're asking a lot of me here, you know, and I'm risking a poor rating by attempting to answer this one.  But anyway, If I remember correctly, you can get Heidi (HDI) drivers running for R14 "compatible" plotters.  Therefore you should have gotten software of that nature from HP to drive your plotter.  Using those drivers, your plotter should function pretty well.  You really should upgrade, though, but you've waited so long, your only choice is AutoCAD 2008 which is a real resource hog.  In some cases, it's worth more money to get the older plotter repaired and not have to upgrade thousands of dollars worth of other stuff to stay compatible with one broken piece of equipment.  By the way, the company where I work is selling an HP DesignJet 430.  It was working for us on R14.  I think we were using HDI drivers for that, too.  If you're interested, talk to Gregg at 503-635-0797, and tell him I sent you.  We're in Portland, OR.  We're off on the 12th of Nov.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
