Question
Does AutoCAD 2006 / 2005 have the capabilities to flatten an ADT drawing (AECObjectExplode)? We're a mechanical engineering firm that's in the process of upgrading from AutoCAD 2002 to AutoCAD 2005/2006.

Answer
Hi -- sorry I just have a minute, so I can't look it up, but it would make no sense for the answer to be yes.
Why would they add the feature to millions of units of AutoCAD for the use of a few thousand people or less?
It is standard practice for the AutoCAD user to ask the ADT creator to make a copy and degrade it before sending.
However, since I also work for a dealer, I can tell you that you might do a crossgrade of one of your seats to ADT while you upgrade, for not a fortune of money, and you can install that seat with a shortcut to using it as vanilla AutoCAD for normal use.
HOWEVER, I WAS PRETTY SHOCKED THAT YOU WROTE "2005/2006"-- THERE ARE VERY IMPORTANT DIFFERENCES IN 2006, UNLESS YOU HAVE STUBBORN USERS WHO CUSOTOMIZE BACK TO THE STONE AGE.
