AutoCAD/AUTOCAD "HELP"

Question
When I pick on the "HELP" in AutoCAD, I get the following error message:
"Cannot find help file acad.chm"
Any suggestions?

Answer
Hi, Brenda Kay:
ACAD.CHM (or equivalent) is supposed to reside in a folder called HELP which should be a subfolder of the same folder in which ACAD.EXE resides.  I say equivalent, because in some cases, when somebody has a vertical product of AutoCAD such as Autodesk Architectural or Mechanical, the name can be different.  Type:
(findfile "ACAD.EXE")
to find where ACAD.exe is, then open the folder in EXPLORER, go to the HELP subfolder and search there.  If it's there, then go back to AutoCAD and invoke _OPTIONS.  Click on the Files Tab and scroll down to "Help and Miscellaneous File Names"  and "Browse" to the file and click on it.  Then click on "Open".  The name and path will show up under HELP FILE.  Click OK and get out of Options.  Type HELP and see if it comes up this time.
I have ADT, so my help file name is ADT.CHM.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
