AutoCAD/Acad 2005 - Burst and Layer Tools

Question
Bill,

I'm converting an office CAD system from 2000 to 2005. A lot of us are used to using the old "bonus tools" commands, in particular the "burst" command, and the layer tools (the layer freeze tool that works on xref layers). How can we get these working in 2005? I've tried adding burst.lsp to my autolaods, and get an error message:

; error: no function definition: INIT_BONUS_ERROR

Any help would be appreciated.

Charlie

Answer
Express Tools are the replacement for Bonus Tools.  With ACAD 2000, you had to BUY Express Tools in order to have them.  But you used your Bonus tools from R14 and got away with it.  That's OK.  Fortunately for you, you don't have to BUY Express Tools anymore.  They reside on your AutoCAD Installation CD.  I don't know the exact path or which of two disks they are on right now, but it's on one of them.  Look around for it, because it's there.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
