AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop 2004 and Windows XP Media Center 2005?

Question
Hi, sorry to bother you again, but I've done more research and am not really understanding the differences.  The AutoCad website says that ADT2004 does not support XP Media Center, but it supports all other versions of XP....what is the difference as far as Cad is concerned?

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

I am looking at purchasing a new computer/operating system and cannot seem to find any information anywhere that says if AutoCad Architectural Desktop 2004 is compatible with Windows XP Media Center 2005.  Could you point me in the right direction, or do you happen to have knowledge of this?

Thanks!

Hi --

You could post in the Autodesk Discussion group for ADT2004,5,or 6 (2004 discusssion will be fairly quiet 30 mos after product launch) -- in case of some wierd thing, but the answer to the question is:

"of course it should be just perfectly fine, but Autodesk never rates compatibility of a release to an operating system that came out later"

To my knowledge, XP media center just adds stuff for audio, video, and TV -- it is possible that it somehow is better for visualizations, but the OS is not geared to our industry, so the question has not come up for me.

You could look at the Autodesk webisite to see if the WMC is compatible with ADT2006 -- then 99% it would be fine with 2004

THERE IS A POST IN THE ADT 2004 GROUP THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU-
remember:
1-they dont support backward to an old release
2-I am not so sure that the OS is geared at all to our industry, so the question might not come up often.

MY REAL REPLY: DOUBLE CHECK THAT YOU ARE NOT MISSING ANYTHING THAT XP PRO HAS, THAT MEDIA CENTER DOES NOT, BY COMPARING THEM ON THE MS WEBSITE-  ALL RELEASES OF WINDOWS THAT ARE VAGUELY RECENT WORK WILL ALL RELEASES OF AUTOCAD
