Question
The problem: unable to load profile message.....I asked Scott who replied and said if I were to ...he said something about ..."give it an argument/p new or something like that should force  it to create a blank profile..." I do not understand what the /pswitch is. John

Answer
I still need to put my 2008 on my computer.  However, I think I can help, anyway.  Scott is talking about the shortcut that you have that you double-click on your desktop or just click on in your start menu to launch AutoCAD.  If you don't use the Start Menu and you right click on the desktop shortcut and go down to PROPERTIES, you will see a command in the "TARGET" window.  It is very similar to a DOS command in that it can be executed from the COMMAND PROMPT just as you see it in the shortcut.  There may be multiple switches there.  /t for a template file to start with, /p for profile, or /nologo to not show the splash screen every time AutoCAD starts.  If you put a /p and a profile name that doesn't exist, AutoCAD will create the profile with default settings.  To see what profile names are available, start OPTIONS, and go to PROFILES tab and look at the list.  There you can create a new one on the spot.  Call it John or John1.  Then put the corresponding name in the /p switch of the shortcut you use to start AutoCAD.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
