AutoCAD/AutoCAD Layer colors

Question
I am having a problem changing layer colors in the Layer Dialog Box.

Sometimes, it takes four or five tries for AutoCAD to change the layer color, and sometimes it changes on the first try.

Example: if I want to change the color from white to red, I click on the color, hit OK - but the Layer Dialog box doesn't make the change even though the previous window acknowleges it.

I've tried double clicking when there's a problem, single clicking the double clicking, slowly double clicking, but once there's a problem nothing seems to fix it other than going thru the motions four or five times.

What gives?

I don't know if this is confined to XREf'd layers or layers taht are actually in the drawing (I have never kept trac). But is quite annoying, and slows me down enough to break my train of thought.

Answer
This has never shown up before.  You are the first.  I am unable to duplicate the problem.  I checked lots of different things including layer filters and such, but if you hit OK, it's supposed to change the color.

One thing that could be happening is this:
Your video card might be playing tricks on you.  You may have the correct color assigned, but perhaps your card is not displaying the correct color.  This has happened to us on numerous occasions and on various PC's.

Next time this happens, try saving, exiting AutoCAD and reopening AutoCAD to see if the color will be fixed when you start a new session.

Apart from that, I have no other suggestion.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
