AutoCAD/AutoCAD regeration question

Question
Hi. I hope you can help fix this. I have a file I recieved from someone else. Everytime I go into model space the file regerates and zooms out to zoom-extents. What really kills me is when I am in a layout. When in the layout tab when I go to model space it also zooms to extents.

I could not find a setting that told it to do this. Any ideas.

Thanks in advance. Dan Clinton

Answer
Dan:
Try setting UCSFOLLOW to 0. After that, use MVIEW to lock your viewport once you have it zoom-scaled the way you want and panned to what you want to see.  In AutoCAD, (not vertical product menus like ADT) you can right-click on the viewport and lock the display of the viewport.  If you don't have that, MVIEW will do it.  Once the viewport's display is locked, you can zoom and pan and AutoCAD will temporarily go to Paper Space and then back to Model (not the Model tab, but inside the viewport).

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
