Question
Hi there,

I'm importing DWG files into AutoCAD 2000, but am havng problems with the scaling. They are architectural plans with dimensions in mm. Unless I scale down the drawing, I cannot actually zoom out and work on the whole drawing - the overall size of which is around 15000mm square. I also wish to produce a layout scaled 1:50. Is there also a way of setting dimension arrows and text size to stay the same whatever size the drawing is? Any suggestions REALLY appreciated!
Thanks, Charles

Answer
Charles,

Architectural plans in mm? The best way to do it is to scale down the imported dwg. Perhaps converting it to inches (scale to .03937) would be ideal. the dimensional arrow/text size are dictated by your dim setting (DDIM). Set desired scale, dim/text sizes, etc. in here. If your dim lines are still intact (not exploded), update by:

dim
update
all
(enter)
(enter)

. As you can see, DDIM adjusts dimensional sizes depending on what scale you have set in paperspace. Hope this helps!
