AutoCAD/AutoCad Backup

Question
I have Land Desktop and Autodesk Civil 3D open at the same time.
When I save on Land Desktop I do not always get a new .bak file save.

Is this normal, or do we have a problem here?

If we have a problem, how can we resolve it.

My drawing in land desktop keeps locking up or crashing and I am not able to recover work because I don't have files to retreive that are current. Do you have some sugesstions?

We are using AutoDesk Land Desktop 2006

Answer
Since LDD is an AutoCAD vertical product, you should be able to check this in OPTIONS just like AutoCAD.

So type:
_OPTIONS

Click on the "Open and Save" tab

Look in the File Safety Precautions box

Make sure that "Create backup copy with each save" is checked.

Click on OK.

That should do it

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
