QuestionBob
How is it best to scan a copy of a scaled map say 1:1250 onto an AutoCad drawing and get it to scale correctly in the final print.
I use view ports in paper space and then scale individual viewports in model space.
it would also be useful how to know how to alter the scaled image.
many Thanks frank
AnswerNot my field, if the map is not merely to illustrate the site on a sheet, but my best idea:
In plain AutoCAD, I would bring the map in as a raster image, and scale it by drawing a line, then adjusting the image scale so a known length in the map matches the line. This is complicated by the image quality, which might deteriorate severely if you enlarge it too much.
Presumably, you are bringing the map in as an insert on a page, so you can leave it fairly small -- work out the viewport scale. Precision in the scale can be loose, in that case.
If you are bringing the map in to show large, or draw over, at minimum you need a high-res image when you scan.
There are other Autodesk products for using a map to make an accurate CAD drawing.
