I'm running Autocad 2000 on a pentium 3 using MS. windows ME.
I just recently get a fatal error message everytime I try to run Autocad saying -
" Autocad can not write to tempoary files or they are read only. Please correct this before running autocad." Then it closes down the program.
I still have 10gigs on my hard drive so it can't be a hard drive space problem. Do you have any Idea how to correct this problem?
Thanks
Answer -
View your Autocad's Support File Search Paths under Options then verify & ensure that the directories are NOT read only. Also check your C:Temp.
Let me know if this works!

Can you guide me through this? I can't get into Autocad to look at options. Also I did not notice a temp directotry on my c: drive. I added on a temp folder but I don't think cad is writing of finding it.

AnswerFrank,
Search for any folder called 'temp' in your c: drive. FYI, windows search can also be invoked by pressing your 'Windows key' + 'F'. Once all of the 'temp' folders shows up in your search, right click (not the file but one that actually looks like a folder) on one them, then select 'Properties'. Once the properties dialog box appears, look at the very bottom where it says attributes. Ensure there are NO check boxes on the "Read-only" item. It must be Unchecked. Select OK when done. Repeat the procedure for the rest of the 'temp' folders on your search results & re-execute Autocad program. Hope this works...let me know.
