AutoCAD/CAD Cursor

Question
I had to load LandDesktop 2004 onto an old laptop running Windows ME.  When cad is launched, I don't have a cross hairs in the drawing space.  They do show up in the START bar & on the windows buttons @ the bottom, just not in the CAD window.

Any help would be great.  I know its something simple.  I've got a guy standing around.

Thanks,

Answer
The concensus among several people I consulted is to change operating systems to one that is supported.  Even if you have ME systems on which LDT works.  It's just that it doesn't ALWAYS work.  As one collegue points out, It's significantly cheaper to buy an O/S that you KNOW will work.

From the website:
System Requirements

 a.. Intel® Pentium® III or later: 500 MHz minimum, 800 MHz recommended
b.. Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional or Home Edition, Windows 2000, or
Windows NT® 4.0 (SP6a or later)
c.. 256 MB RAM, 650 MB disk space for installation
d.. 1024x768 VGA with true color
 e.. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0
f.. Mouse, trackball, or other pointing device
 g.. Optional: Open GL-compatible 3D video card

James Wedding. P.E.  says:
ME sucks. It's not a stable business grade platform. If you can afford LDT,
you can afford the $99 (or less) to upgrade to XP Pro. It's just silly not
to.

But there is one thing I would like you to check.  Look in OPTIONS DISPLAY and Colors and make sure the Cross hairs are visible in the sample window, If not, click in the Window element window to select Model Tab pointer.  If the color indicated is the same as the background, change it.  Then do the same in Layout Tabs Background (paper)and Layout Tabs Pointer.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
