Question
Hi! my name is mobius.

Now , i want to ask you a few about autocad.

1. I study autocad and catia my self. the reason - my

school university of guam doesn`t have the engineering

major.

only there are pre - engineering courses located and it

doesn`t help about graphic parts. so i want to take a

certification exam of cad. but it is not only the

interesting, i also want to take catia, 3d cad and more.

unfortunatly, here on guam(u.s.territory) doesn`t accept

any of them, should i make "SOME" money for one time

journey to the SUPER DUPER GREAT WORLD BEST COUNTRY AND

HUGE ISLAND OF UNITED STATE? (T^T Common... it is the only

way? I`m such a poor college student)

2. one day i read an advisement by one of your cad

experts. He/She(i`m not sure about gender) mentioned a

person like me, said "If you already have a knowledge much

about cad and you don`t think that you need to take the

course in the college, you`d better consider to take a

testimony in the ADDA."

So, i analysed ADDA page and check the test location -

OvO DAMN!! Even there`s only allowed in the Mother country

of U.S.!!!

By the way, I think my status suppose to be mostly of

above, which not taking the course on the college. the

expert also mentioned about adda, the drafting skill is

neccessary for the test. so, as you understand what all i

told you, what should i begin? what i doing now is just

computer graphing. should i buy some kind of draft book?

which kind of manuel(books in the store) is suitable to

me, you think? and also, please give me the information

that all you know about ADDA.

3. What is the best way(order) to become a good and

trustful of engineer? I wish I want to join the military

mechanic/ weaponary/ kind of robotics supply designer

thing. (ex- bae systems or lock heed martin).

by the way, i have some artistic society background.

i certified about a water colored design by congress

women, and a couple of times by high schools, daily news

paper company, although my major is mathematics. (because

stupid u.o.g. doesn`t accept engineering major.)

Last, Those are all i want to ask you at this time. so

please read and answer me. thank you for spend your time

to read! see you later~! :)

Answer
Nothing wrong with being an Engineer.  And Guam's top industry is tourism.  And you have to house all those tourists.  So, the engineering you need can be of one of two disciplines.  Civil or Architectural.  Whichever you like best, focus on that and talk to engineers and architects in Guam to find out what they need in the way of help and you can try to provide that.  Eventually you will make a connection with an engineer who will take a liking to you and you to him, and you can end up on his payroll.  Ask the professionals in your area what they require and you focus on accomplishing that.  They all can't import all their engineers.  That's just not reasonable.  So, somehow the education has to be available in Guam.  Keep me posted on how this goes.  You've got me curious.  If U.O.G. doesn't have an Engineering program, then there must be some means by which the professionals in your area have educated themselves.  Again, I say ask them.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
