AutoCAD/MENU REPLY - CUI
Expert: Bill DeShawn - 10/8/2007
QuestionQUESTION: I just loaded 2008 and used my existing profile and LISP routines from 2004. Everything is okay except my "CTRL" key does not work (CTRL P, CTRL C, and CTL V particularly).
Is there a toggle somewhere? My AutoDESK guy is stumped...
ANSWER: Brenda Kay:
I need to ask something to get a better picture of what's going on. First: Are you using the ACAD menu that came with AutoCAD 2008, or are you using your AutoCAD 2004 menu that you customized and loaded, thereby converting it to ACAD.CUI and overwriting the original ACAD.CUI? or none of that?
This is important for me to know in order to give you what I believe is the best advice.

QUESTION: I am using my customized AutoCAD 2004 menu. My AutoDesk support guy said to unload and reload the CUI but I do not know how to do that...
AnswerIn this case, I believe you should have the original ACAD.CUI as the main menu. That means if you loaded your ACAD.MNU or MNS from AutoCAD 2004 your original ACAD.CUI that came with AutoCAD 2008 is gone for good. In order to get it back, you may need to do a complete reinstall of AutoCAD. But wait. First, I believe there is a backup of the original ACAD.CUI in a UserDataCache\Support subfolder of your AutoCAD 2008 folder that was created when you installed AutoCAD. Copy that one to
C:\Documents and Settings\BRENDAKAY\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2008\enu\support\ folder and overwrite the one that's in there. Then restart AutoCAD. Your keyboard shortcuts should now work. Your customized menu file can then be loaded as an Enterprise customization file.
I'll check on exactly how to do that after you tell me how these instructions have worked for you thus far.
