AutoCAD/Converting images to lines

Question
I have Autocad 2006.  I would like to know how to convert an imported image into lines.  This image is imported into Autocad. I would like to be able to take the lines from the drawing and have them rendered into Autocad.

Answer
Michelle,

Autocad does not have the capability to convert images (raster) into its native vector features. You can insert the image & trace over it using lines, arcs, splines, etc. However, there are third party developers that specializes on these automatic conversions. I've used scan2cad in the past, by Softcover.com. You could also google up similar raster to vector packages & test it before you commit. Hope this helps...let me know!
