AutoCAD/DEFPOINTS Layer

Question
When I draw something in one layer and then put that object on the DEFPOINTS layer, it won't let me select it once it is put on the DEFPOINTS layer.  When I regen, it disappears.  I am only having this problem in a few drawings and they all seem to be from the same project. If I make the DEPOINTS layer the current layer and draw something, it is there, but I can't select it and when I regen, it disappears.

Answer
I believe in those "few drwings" in which you have trouble you may have layer "0" frozen.  Thaw layer "0" and you will be able to select the objects on layer "DEFPOINTS".  "DEFPOINTS" is tied to layer "0" in this way and does not behave like other layers that are configured to not plot.  I believe that Autodesk should fix this behavior as it is no longer necessary in my opinion.  I guess it hasn't been a big enough issue for them.

Expertise

I can address all 2-D questions and some 3-D questions. I do programming in AutoLISP if it doesn`t involve solid modeling. I can also address menu customization issues and can help you find answers to questions I can`t answer by taking your question directly to Autodesk via their newsgroups.

Experience

I used to do electronic and mechanical design for a flat panel monitor manufacturer, and now I do architectural drafting for an architect. I did and do AutoLISP and menu customization and take pride in making my lisp routines to do the work exactly the way the client likes them done.

Publications
I had a routine published in CADENCE magazine (no longer in publication and taken over by CADALYST). Some of my routines are published on my website at http://my.sterling.net/~bdeshawn
